Dr. Patrick McIntyre MD, JD

INTERVENTIONAL SPINE PHYSICIAN

I grew up in Northeast Ohio. After receiving my undergraduate degree in Political Science and International Relations from a small Jesuit college in Fairfield, Connecticut called Fairfield University, I started work on my Juris Doctorate degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. While studying law, I started enrolling in undergraduate premedical school science and math courses at CWRU. After graduating from law school, I started medical school at what is now known as the University of Toledo School of Medicine.

After graduating from medical school in 2001, I completed my Internal Medicine internship and my Anesthesiology residency at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. During my residency I found my calling. After several one-month rotations on the Pain Medicine Service, I realized that my passion was treating patients with a variety of chronic pain. It was then that I embarked upon my career in the relatively new field of Pain Medicine. I completed my fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. I was recruited to return to University Hospitals of Cleveland to help rejuvenate the Division of Pain Medicine. I teach residents and fellows as well as work in a busy outpatient and inpatient practice.

My interest is in advanced minimally invasive therapies to treat pain. Finding the definitive treatment for each patient is my goal. Besides basic injections, I have many other therapies to offer. I have extensive experience in treating patients with neuromodulation therapies including peripheral nerve, dorsal column, and dorsal root ganglion approaches. I am well versed in ablative procedures such as Intracept and Osteocool. Minimally invasive lumbar decompression and Vertiflex may be appropriate for patients with stenosis who are not surgical candidates. I have several other therapies that I can offer patients depending upon their condition.
